The History Boys

The Tony and Olivier Award-winning hit play returns! Written by Alan Bennett and directed by Nicholas Hytner, the landmark National Theatre production comes back after 20 years for a strictly limited 16-week run. Loved by a generation, The History Boys follows eight schoolboys at an all-boys grammar school in Sheffield as they navigate sex, school politics, and their teachers’ intellectual battle of wills.

Subversive, poignant, and deeply funny, the play explores sexuality, adolescence, and the nature of history, challenging the purpose of education while reflecting the changing face of 1980s England.

Runtime is 2 hours and 40 minutes including a 20-minute interval. Suggested for ages 12+, and the production contains strong language and adult themes. Tickets start at £25.
