Spring Awakening

It’s a provincial German town in 1891, and society has decided the teens are better off not knowing about their bodies, their desires, or anything that happens after dark. So they find out on their own. Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik’s landmark rock musical, based on the play by Frank Wedekind, tears into the exhilaration, confusion, and consequences of coming of age.

Tony Award-winning director Danya Taymor and choreographer Celia Rowlson-Hall bring the musical to Off-Broadway’s Studio Seaview in an intimate, raw new staging. The cast features Tyler Jordan Wesley (Melchior), Ashlyn Maddox (Wendla), and Ryo Kamibayashi (Moritz), with George Abud and Lilli Cooper as The Adult Men and The Adult Women. Now extended through April 4, 2027.

Runtime is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with an intermission. Tickets start at $79, and a limited number of $40 rush and lottery tickets are available. Accessible performances include open captioned, audio described, and ASL-interpreted shows.
