Lineage and QueerWise present:
AUTHORING OF THEIR OWN NARRATIVES, To Remember a Decade of AIDS
A Los Angeles-based group of writer-performers, QueerWise combines history, humor, and candor to explore the shifting cultural realities of being queer in Twenty-First Century America. Celebrating their ten-year anniversary in 2022, one of their annual signature pieces has been a performance piece honoring World AIDS Day.
This year’s performance, AUTHORING THEIR OWN NARRATIVES, is a compilation of select writings from their ten-year arsenal of work illuminating HIV/AIDS. This event marks QueerWise’s first teaming with Lineage. The collective has performed more than thirty theatrical pieces in a variety of venues, including Beyond Baroque, Skylight Theatre, and Highways Performance Space.
Artist-activist Michael Kearns will produce and direct AUTHORING THEIR OWN NARRATIVES. From his internationally acclaimed solo work to his local activist involvement, Kearns’ voice — as a director, writer, producer, and actor — has never abated for nearly five decades.
AUTHORING THEIR OWN NARRATIVES is produced, in part, from a grant it has received from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Lucia Chappelle, Jim Pentecost and Corey Roskin are Associate Producers while Robin Podolsky is Head Writer.
